QQI Board

Board Structure

QQI is governed by a board of ten members including the Chief Executive. Board members are appointed by the Minister for Education and Skills. The Chief Executive is appointed by the Board with the consent of the Minister.

Our independence is guaranteed by our establishing legislation, the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012.

Members of our board include:

At least one person with international experience related to the functions of the board
At least two learner representatives; one nominated by the Union of Students in Ireland

The 5-year term of office of the Board of QQI expires on 5 November 2022.
